Oh, The Places You Can Go!

Dear Young Women,
When I first moved to the area and was trying to find my way around, I was driving over near Buena Creek. Certain that I was going in the right direction, I turned and found myself on the 15 Freeway going South - completely the wrong way to get home! Now, turning around on the freeway was fairly easy, but I did have to go miles out of my way to get myself back on track. I have thought about that day often and realized that one turn can significantly alter your destination.
There is a Dr. Seuss book that I love called "Oh, The Places You Can Go" and one of my favorite passages says:

"You have brains in your head,

You have feet in your shoes,

Only you can decide the direction you choose."

Everyday you make decisions about what direction you are going to choose: you make it when you attend seminary, you make it when you eat lunch with somebody who is sitting alone, you make when you obey your parents (even when it's something you don't agree with!), you make it when you work on your personal progress or when you say something kind about somebody instead of gossiping....the list can go on and on. Everything you choose takes you in one direction or another.

What will you choose today that will take you in a good direction? Think about it and then let me know. I can hardly wait to hear about your day! In the meantime, have a great week and remember that I love each one of you! TTYL~

Dear Young Women,

I am looking forward to seeing each one of you on March 28th for our Young Women Recognition Dinner and Broadcast; please come and if our presidency has not had the pleasure of meeting you yet, please introduce yourself to us. We can hardly wait to meet each one of you!
Young Women General President Elaine S. Dalton is one of my heros; I just love her! Although I don't know her personally, I love her and everything she stands for. She and her presidency will be speaking to us on the 28th and I can tell you without a doubt that she has a message especially for you!
A number of years ago, Sister Dalton spoke in another meeting and to the young women of the church, she said, "As you search the scriptures diligently and pray always, you will be guided by the Lord. Everything in the scriptures is applicable to our lives. The scriptures answer our questions, they provide role models and heroes, and they help us understand how to handle challenges and trials. Many times the scriptures you read will be the answer to your prayers."
Although that message was given to us a few years ago, it is more important that ever. In fact, remember that at the beginning of this year Sister Dalton and her counselors encouraged each of us to read our scriptures for at least 5 minutes a day (are you remembering to "prs" - pray, read, smile?).
I want to bear you my testimony of reading the scriptures. I know as you do, your own testimony will grow and you will receive the guidance that each of you need in your daily lives.
I'm looking forward to seeing you soon. TTYL~
